Books to read before the film comes out
As autumn approaches, so do a whole host of new films. Some of the best of these are undoubtedly the book-to-film adaptations!
With this in mind, here are the books to add to your to-be-read list asap! (And reading includes listening to audiobooks too, of course!)
The Girl on the Train
This was the poster child of audiobooks back in 2015 when it was released, and now it's film adaptation starring Emily Blunt is edging ever closer! The book is a psychological thriller written by Paula Hawkins... get ready to be gripped.

Inferno
This film is based on the Dan Brown novel of the same name, published in 2013. It stars Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon and Felicity Jones as Dr Sienna Brooks. The book is the fourth in it's series, following Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code and The Lost Symbol, so there's plenty of reading or listening material for you to sink your teeth into!

The Light Between Oceans
The film adaption of this M. L. Stedman novel stars the real life amazing actor couple Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. The story is fraught with all kinds of love and heart break. And the book has rave reviews on Amazon, so it's well worth a read!

A Monster Calls
If you watch this film (or read the book) you should probably expect tears - have a look at the trailer to see why! The children's novel of the same name is by Patrick Ness and was published in 2011, winning multiple awards. Siobhan Dowd conceived the novel during her own terminal illness, and the story reflects some of her own personal circumstance.

Wonder
Wonder, written by R. J. Palacio, tells the story of a boy born with a facial abnormality who just wants to fit in. The film adaptation is set to have an all-star cast including Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Room's Jacob Tremblay.

All the Bright Places
We don't know much about the film adaptation of All the Bright Places yet, only that it's set to star Elle Fanning and be released some time in 2018. In the meantime, you've got the original book by Jennifer Niven to read! This young adult novel follows Theodore and Violet, as Theodore discovers he can be himself and Violet is reminded to really start living. But as her world grows, his fascination with death increases.

This book by John Gordon is a children's fantasy adventure, and was originally published in 1968. Clearly this story about three school friends who discover an ancient treasure and become involved in an epic battle of good against evil has stood the test of time, and caught a filmmaker's eye!

The Night Circus is a fantasy novel by Erin Morgenstern about a wandering magical circus that is open only from sunset to sunrise. The audiobook is read by actor Jim Dale who narrated the Harry Potter audiobook series for the US.

This book is a physcological crime thriller by Ruth Ware, in which what was supposed to be a cosy hen weekend away, goes very wrong.

The Goldfinch
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2014, among other honours, and the film is due to be directed by John Crowley. The novel is a coming-of-age story which follows Theodore Decker who, at the age of 13, survives a terrorist bombing at an art museum in which his beloved mother dies.
